Question: Hard drive recovery software: d drive corrupt?

Please do not attempt to answer this unless you are a techie or are sure you know what you are talking about! I am a techie myself. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - QUESTION: I have machine with 5 drives. One was perfectly healthy until I bumped the computer into something hard while it was running. Now the I get the message "F:\ is not accessible. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable. " I suspect a read or write error took place - I don't believe the whole disc suddenly became corrupted. I would like to run some recovery software. I prefer to run it from inside Windows (not at boot time). Can you recommend a software to use?

Ontrack is good. I'd bet that your drive partition is corrupt and you could probably just repair the MFT and MBR. Built into the windows installation disk under recover option (yes I know it's not from within windows itself, but it is free)

On track easy recovry professional is the best route, as others have said. Usually expensive, but you can pick it up for free if you download hiram's boot disk.
