Is 4 bars strong enough to get fast internet?
I bought a new PC and attached a brand new linksys dual channel usb wireless adapter. I'm getting 4 bars instead of 5.My computer sometimes lags. Is that fast enough or should I consider a different type of wireless adapter?AT& T squawked at putting the wired connection near my computer in the living room because it was " too far" from the main box. I don't have room in the room they put the box in.Would using the usb extention cord that came in the box help it to be faster? I hate hanging cords and don't know where to put it, but what do you think?
New computer, fast internet, slow videos and games?
My personal computer is about 4 months old, and I have had no issues with my internet videos games. For the past few days, youtube or any other video will not work... and games on facebook take forever to load. It is not my temporary internet files or cookies because I delete those on a daily basis, i have uninstalled and reinstalled adobe flash player, and have done tons of security scans along with restarting the computer. If someone can help me with this, I would really appreciate it
What is a fast internet speed?
Mine is 48 mbps and I am using a Sky wireless router on my laptop the advert says you are meant to get up to 20 megabyte broadband speeds . I live in the UK and would also like to how different countries vary in internet speed. Thank you
Is 10Mbps a fast internet speed?
I've done the internet speed test thingies a few time and it usually gets around this the lowest one I had was 8Mbps download speed. Is this a average, fast, or really fast internet I guess it could be below average, but I doubt it I always thought a lot of people had faster internet, but do most people get faster than this? What is the average internet speed in the U.S.? Please tell me.And my internet also goes through a wireless router. I'm not sure if that would matter though.

I am paying about $50 a month for internet and i found that Comcast is only 19.99 but they dont have it in my area. Right now im in Batavia NY and i was wondering if anyone knows of any other fast internet for cheap. i want at least MB download or higher. Does anyone have an suggestion on high speed internet?I would be able to go cheaper if i didn't have to download movies from archive.org for my classes. im a digital arts major and i have to be able to download 8 hour movies fast and be able to cut em up to do what i need them to do so i would go cheaper slower if i didn't need fast. Here's the story my dad just signed up for xfinity, with internet, phone, and cable, and it apparently comes with 12 Mbps up 2 Mbps down internet. I was under the impression that we were currently paying for 10 Mbps, or at least I knew we were 4 5 years ago. Just to check we were not getting ripped off I was only there for the tail end of the discussion, and the salesperson didn't even know the difference between Mbps and MBps, I just did many speedtests at speedtest.net, and I was getting 18 20 Mbps up, 2Mbps down.So my questions are could we be getting more than I'm paying for, or am I just mistaken about what we were paying for?We're currently paying about 75 dollars for internet and very basic cable that we set up about 5 years ago in the Tacoma area of Washington State. Could anyone in a similar situation tell me what their speed is?
Can at&t deny me faster internet service?
right now i have at& t dsl internet service. i used to have comcast high speed internet, but since moving to a new location and into a house that's about 100 feet from the main road i live on, comcast says they can't offer me cable or internet service without running a line out to my house which they will not do unless i pay an outlandish fee. something like $3000 . i switched to at& t out of necessity for internet service, but at& t says that even though i'm willing to pay the extra price for their best internet service, they will not give me that service because my house is off the main road and they don't want to bother with making any sort of accomodations for me or my neighbor next to me in the same situation. are they allowed to deny service to customers like that just because they're too lazy and don't want to spend the money, even though they would make it back in the long run? what ever happened to valuing your customers?
Does a faster internet speed help a webcam run faster?
So im into youtube now, and i have a built in webcam on my netbook, and I was curious as to whether a higher speed internet would make my videos NOT LAG Right now im with shaw, and shaw has a few different speeds of internet, and there are two above me. On youtube i upload my video direct i dont record and then edit, etc i go on youtube and record on the site. so im thinking faster internet will make it lag less? let me know

I need something really fast. That doesn't crash, has a good bookmark system, slim, and looks good. Any suggestions? Oh and I have a really old computer, that only runs when my house fan is turned on, the computers heated air is sucked down the air vent. What should I get so my computer stops overheating? I think it's the reason our energy bill is so high.
If i want faster internet, should i get a new router or call my supplier and get an upgrade?
