Question: Xp or 7 for my new computer?
(Posted by: Margaret H on 2010-03-19 21:43:33)
I've had XP Pro on my desktop and laptop now for six years. I work at home and I'm buying a new desktop computer next month. Should I go with Windows 7 or ask for XP Pro again? |

Go with windows 7 professional or ultimate cause it supports windows xp mode with which u will be able to run all your xp softwares in it. Moreover, windows 7 looks and feels way better than xp and has gone through many changes from UI to security. |

It depends, your used to windows xp pro, so 7 will be a big adjustment, with loads of security prompts and new interfaces for many things, such as desktop backgrounds, monitor resolution, and control panel, on top of that its new so it will cost more. but on the up side, it has a steam lined start menu, a good security software, a large area for your icons hidden icons on the task bar, the option to have your desktop background rotate between custom images, and has the ability to help identify and solve problems. |

I would go with Windows 7, I beta tested Win 7 for the last year and I currently use Win7 Home Premium X64 on my laptop and I love it. Also Internet explorer 9.0 will not support XP, That wouldn't matter to most folks using XP because they probably use Firefox/ Opera/ Safari. It just seems to be a sign that Microsoft is beginning to drop support for XP as it is pretty old. If you are going to purchase Win7 on your own for your new PC go with Home Premium, Ultimate is great but the average user does not use all the features Ultimate adds. Such as Virtual XP mode, Domain join, ability to backup to a home or business network (not the same as system restore), Bitlocker, or support for 35 languages. |
